Aim:
To reduce underarm excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) through the use Botulinum toxin.
Why:
Excessive underarm sweating can cause a great deal of anxiety and distress to patients and lead to unwarranted social stigma. It can interfere with daily activities and cause unwanted sweat patches that can be seen as unsightly. This can be treated successfully.
How:
Botulinum toxin can be used to reduce the release of excess sweat in the underarm area. About 15 small injections are made beneath the skin to reduce the release of sweat from the sweat glands. By doing so this can often reduce the amount of sweating by more than 90%.
